I think this was their only release, but I seem to remember that there was a link to some 60s Garage band, but that info is somehow lost in the fog…Sounds a bit like a West Coast Grand Funk. File somewhere between Sir Lord Baltimore and Bang” – purepop1uk.blogspot.co.uk Many thanks again to purepop1uk.blogspot.co.uk for unearthing this! Further information from http :- Heavy early 70s stoner rock with a great rolling backbeat, fuzzed out guitar, and a moving message about the joys of wanton outdoor drug use. Musically, vocally, and lyrically “Box” is a great forerunner to Dave Wyndorf’s Monster Magnet sound almost 20 years later. Zekes were a popular power trio from the Lakewood/Long Beach area of Southern California, mixing covers of Cream & Hendrix with originals. Brothers Lenny and Kenny Gale were the band’s core, and future NME writer and Island music rep Danny Holloway played bass with them for about 6 months in 1969. Thanks Danny Holloway for background.
