Miracle Drug Brings Patient Out of 7 Year Coma – Miracle Drug Brings Patient Out of 7 Year Coma – as part of the news series by GeoBeats. A man in Johannesburg recently encountered nothing short of a medical miracle. He had been in a coma for seven years after a car wreck. However his wife recently asked doctors to give him doses of a drug called, Stilnox which is a prescription sleeping pill. She had read a news article about another coma patient who was given the same drug by chance and had woken up shortly after taking the pill. She was able to persuade doctors to give her husband the Stilnox and after several days, he came out of the coma. Amazingly, his memory was still intact and he was able to talk, allowing for a beautiful reunion with his wife and now 9-year-old son. In 2004, a woman went into a permanent vegetative state, similar to a coma. She began receiving Stilnox last year after a relative discovered an article about its effects on brain damaged patients. Since starting the treatment, she has improved to a minimally conscious state and is more alert.
