iClip — Weed & Seed – “Empowering Our Community” – The City of Long Beach’s “Weed and Seed” Program, spearheaded by the Dept. of Health and Human Services, aims to prevent, control and reduce violent crime, drug abuse and gang activity in central Long Beach, with a community-based, comprehensive, multi-agency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention, and neighborhood restoration. Working with the UCLA School of Public Affairs, several key points were recommended: -The creation of more recreational opportunities. – Bringing in more local fresh foods through Farmer’s markets. – Adding More after school programs. – Developing Police Youth Groups. – Beautification task forces.
