Have Fertility Drug Treatments Gotten Out of Control…mother Has 14 Kids?

Question by choice_4_men: Have fertility drug treatments gotten out of control…mother has 14 kids?
This is not the only example, just a more recent one.

You can criticize me, but I’m less concerned with the wants of the mother (to have lots of babies) and more concerned about the high risk births and welfare of such kids of fertility treatments once they’re fortunate enough to reach home.

There’s a fine line, and I’m not sure really how to answer that question because I’m still turning it over in my mind!

On one hand, you look at the Duggars and the criticism they’ve received. I haven’t read a whole lot in the media yet about this new woman, but somehow I think so far people justify her situation a little because she used fertility treatments. Her fertility doctor said “Who am I to tell her six is enough?” and normally I would agree, but something about this story seems different to me. The Duggars, for instance, are self-sustaining and have their own house and income. This woman is single and lives with her parents and apparently has no job. I find the whole thing a bit odd, honestly. Is she living off her parents? How did she find the money to do fertility treatments so many times? And the dad’s comment about “We have a huge house …” sounds like a bit of a brag that I’m not sure I believe or quite understand yet. What is the point of saying “the press will never find us”? Sounds like there might be more to dig up (not saying they should) and that this isn’t the end of this story.

Normally I’m an advocate for having as many babies as you want and can afford. But having them with no job doesn’t sound like a sound decision, and living off your parents doesn’t sound healthy, either.

So far, though, the babies sound healthy and were a good weight considering there were so many. And they made it to what, 31 weeks? Which is terrific for multiple births. So they’re very, very lucky.
