How Long Will It Take Us to Become Citizens in Miami?

Question by Matias: How long will it take us to become citizens in miami?
Hi everyone my name is matias 19 years old from uruguay las tejas thats next to montevideo is a small village where I grew up anyway I came to this state (miami) in 2003 with my mom, sister , brother I was 9 years old a kid. Anyway my mom was cheating on my father before back in my country and the week me and my brother sweared to tell my father the truth so when we came back from the beach I told my father right there and then and my father got soo furious and my mom and father argued and so then my mom took all my fathers cashband brainwashed my sister so they left us so yes my father has been raisin me and my brother by the way my brother was 17 at the time now he’s 26 and my father was 39 now he’s 46 and we are still immigrants cause my father told my that my mom or that bitch was refusing the divorce and in 2004 I met this kid adrian he’s cuban so is his mom and he is a good kid but he’s kinda mental retarded or something cause he eats everything in the house . Anyway his father abused his mom and him you know hitting that guy was a piece of shit and a drunk and drug addict . So my father and his mom talked about what happened in are lives and she said she would help us with the residency or the citizenship and so my father talked with her husband the abuser and my father told him to atop abusing his kid and his wife so my father was pissed and grabed him by the neck with his weak arm and picked him up by the neck oh my father did that cause before that guy his name is adrian like his son soo he yelled at me and adransito that how we call my friend sooo anyway. The guy left packed his things and left soo my father has been asking for the divorce of my mom the bitch since 2004 but she has been refusing it put now 2012 my father is a very smart man so he used his smartness talk to get the divorce sooo know we finally have it and my father is gonna married this cuban lady so my question was how long is it gonna take for us to get the residency and citizen

Immigration is a federal issue and the rules are the same in every state and city in the country so it doesn’t matter if you live in Miami, New York or Seattle, the laws are the same. Your father won’t gain anything in terms of US immigration by marrying a citizen of Cuba. She would have to be a US citizen in order to aid him. It’s difficult to tell what your options are since you don’t tell us your current status. Obviously certain kinds of visas are easier to parlay into citizenship than others.
