and does anyone know of a inexspensive but good doctor or clinic that i can trust? i live in long beach, ca and would go anywhere in la or oc. have been trying for 2yrs and nothing. never been pregnant once and am 34. i was diagnosed with cervical cancer when i was 17 and the dr froze my cervics and have not had any problems since, however my fear is that the dr was only trying to make money off of me and i didn’t have cancer at all. could that have made me infertile? i have a friend that is pregnant and said she would be willing to allow us to adopt the baby however unfortunately she and i got into an arguement and now she is m.i.a. also she is doing drugs and i worry that she will not hold up to her end of the agreement because of the arguement and go get an abortion just to be spitful. ughh i know complicated.

Sounds like you had cryosurgery to treat cancerous cervical cells resulting from an HPV infection (Human Papilloma Virus… a VERY common STD). Numerous women undergo this routine procedure everyday because of the huge numbers of HPV and cervical precancerous or cancerous cells resulting from certain strains of the virus. I seriously doubt this would have caused problems with your fertility. Cryosurgery does not touch the uterus… just the cervix… the entrance to the uterus… so this wouldn’t do anything to affect your chance of conceiving in my, non-medically trained, opinion.
Perhaps there are other things at play. Do you have a normal cycle? Could you possibly have some other underlying problem that could be causing problems? Could your partner have a low sperm count? Do you smoke? Have you ever had a physical exam? Start there. Both you and your partner should have thoruough examinations to rule out any conditions that could affect your fertility. Most couples get pregnant within 1 year of having unprotected sex. If you haven’t conceived by then you should address the issue with a specialist or, initially, your OB/GYN.
